On May 8, 2024, the first CAR-T Cell Immunotherapy Clinic in Central China was inaugurated at Union Hospital. This clinic brings together expertise from multiple disciplines to provide personalized and precise treatment plans, while also advancing CAR-T cell therapy research and clinical application.
At 10 a.m. that morning, a team of hematology experts arrived on-site to open the CAR-T Cell Immunotherapy Clinic with over a hundred patients from across the country who had previously received CAR-T treatment at Union Hospital.
The CAR-T Cell Immunotherapy Clinic is located at Room 7B101 on the 7th floor of the Outpatient Building of Union Hospital. “Our multidisciplinary team of experts will be available for consultations from Monday to Friday,” said Professor Mei Heng, Director of the Hematology Department at Union Hospital. The multidisciplinary team includes specialists in cell therapy, hematology oncology, immunology, medical imaging, pathology, and critical care. Professor Mei emphasized that this interdisciplinary approach will provide personalized, comprehensive care for patients with refractory and relapsed conditions, benefiting more critically ill patients.
To date, Union Hospital has treated over 500 patients with refractory and relapsed hematological malignancies with CAR-T therapy. The hospital will continue to develop this innovative technology, focusing on precision and personalized medical solutions, and offering hope to patients with refractory/relapsed tumors, immune disorders, and infectious diseases.
