On December 30th, Union Hospital held the 13th Walk for Health themed on “Stride Towards Glory and A Better Future” in the beautiful Houguan Lake Greenway. This event attracted more than 1,300 medical staff and their family members from 20 units. Zhang Yu, Chair of the Union Hospital Committee, and leaders from Caidian District and Huazhong University of Science and Technology attended the event.
At 8:30 in the morning, the kick-off ceremony of the Walk was held in Bailian Lake Square of Houguan Lake. Sun Hui, Deputy Chair of the Union Hospital Committee, extended greetings to everyone. At the turn of the year, more than 1,000 colleagues of the hospital gathered together to enjoy the happiness brought by sports. Best wishes are sent to everyone to stride forward to 2024 with a more vigorous attitude and enterprising spirit.
Zhang Yu, Chair of the Hospital Committee, announced the official start of the event, with garlands and colorful balls printed with the motto of the Hospital “Healing the world with love, uniting the people with sincerity” passed in the air.
The Walk consists of various parts in novel forms, including the 10 km competitive race, the 6 km walk and the orienteering, of which orienteering was organized for the first time, attracting 48 staffs to participate. On the track, the participants chased after each other, and from time to time, other staff members stopped to cheer for them. At the site of the event, everyone was in high spirits, walking along the greenway.
The Walk for Health is a tradition of the hospital to embrace the New Year, which has been held for 13 years in a row. Over the past 13 years, this event has attracted nearly 10,000 participants in total, who are staff members of the hospital and their families.
