On Aug. 18, 2021, the National Natural Science Foundation (NSFC) of China released the results of program reviews of the centralized application review period of NSFC 2021. Postdoctors at the Union Hospital workstation were awarded 16 programs, accounting for more than 10% of total programs awarded to the hospital and marking a big increase compared with 2020.
The hospital attaches great importance to the cultivation of postdoctoral team and supports the development of postdoctors with a combination of measures. A new postdoctoral workstation has been built on the original station and the‘Management Regulation of the Union Hospital Postdoctoral Workstation’ has been revised and refined periodical since 2019, to assure the provision of competitive benefits to postdoctors. Regular training and mentorship, 34 sessions to date, have been provided to the postdoctors.
The hospital has made remarkable headway in both the quantity and quality of postdoctors. Currently, 95 postdoctors are working at the workstation. They have been granted 31 programs funded by China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, 25 programs by Hubei Province Postdoctoral Innovation Positions, and one program by the Postdoctoral Support Program for Innovative Talents, the first in clinical medicine awarded to HUST.
