Nature Publishing Group recently unveiled The Nature Index 2019 Annual Tables, on which Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) ranked sixth among all healthcare institutions in China and first in Hubei.
The Nature Index is a database, that tracks institutions and countries and their scientific output. Each year, Nature Index ranks the leading institutions and countries by the amount of scientific articles and papers published in leading journals including Nature series, Science and Cell, etc.
Building a research-oriented hospital
Union Hospital has mapped out plans since 2017 to develop high-quality departments and created a department evaluation system. Over the past three years, the hospital has built a lineup of departments of high caliber and significant influence in China.
