On October 28th, at the time of the 150th anniversary of our hospital establishment, nearly a hundred management experts and medical professionals from overseas, along with leaders of National Hygiene, Population and Family Planning Commission and other departments, over hundreds of directors of domestic well-known hospitals and nearly one thousand practitioners in medical treatment and health gathered together, witnessed the changes of Wuhan Union Hospital over the 150 years and especially its growth and development today.
This event is a milestone of our hospital, not only because it is our 150th anniversary, but also because it is an opportunity and a good start for deeper connection and further collaboration with well-known universities and hospitals in the world.

Eight people, who made great contribution to the international exchanges of Wuhan Union Hospital, were honored with Wuhan Union Hospital International Collaboration Award. They are Mr. Ewen Walford Gillison (grandson of Dr. Tom Gillison, 1st president of the hospital), Professor Denis Noble (Royal Society Committees of the UK and Member of Council, Oxford University 1989-2004), Professor Timothy Robert Billiar (Academician of the United States National Academy of Sciences, and Chair of Department of Surgery, University of Pittsburgh, USA), Professor Michael Clemens Maria Roggendorf (Visiting Professor at the Institute for Virology, Technical University of Munich, and Former Director of the Institute of Virology, University of Essen, Germany), Professor Wolf Ingo Steudel (General Secretary of the German Neurosurgical Society and Former Chairman of the Neurosurgical Department, Saarland University Hospital, Homburg, Univ. Professor of Neurosurgery, Germany), Professor Weiping Zou (Professor of Surgery, Immunology and Biology, and Director for Translational Research, University of Michigan, USA), Professor Mengji Lu (Professor, Deputy Director of Communication with China Office Department, University of Duisburg Essen, Germany), and Professor Zhidao Xia (Reader in Oxford Brookes University and Senior lecturer at the Swansea University School of Medicine, UK).
