The 49th annual meeting of the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP) was held in Seattle, USA, from May 10 to 14, 2017. Led by Prof. Yao Shanglong from the Union Hospital of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, who is also the associate Chairman of Chinese Society of Anesthesiology and the Chairman of the obstetrics and anesthesiology Committee, the delegation of five well-known members of the obstetrics anesthesiology committee came to the beautiful Seattle to attend the event. In addition, more than 800 experts from around the world joined hands to participate in the meeting.
On the first day of the meeting, "China Obstetrics Anesthesia Exchange Session - China Day in SOAP" debut as the first session of the Innovation Board. Professor Yao Shanglong was first invited to the stage, together with the President of the General Assembly to introduce the Chinese experts to the attendee. Professor Yao Shanglong also gave a lecture entitled "Risks and Management of Obstetric Anesthesia under Two-child Policy", and other experts in the delegation also had wonderful speeches, which showed wonderful academic viewpoints, and shared different perspectives to the United States fellow. The meeting was packed and doctors from all over the world were deeply attracted, enthusiastic questions raised in-depth discussion. In order to welcome the Chinese delegation, the General Assembly specially arranged simultaneous translation in both English and Chinese.
During the meeting, the delegation held the first session of China, carried out a wonderful academic exchange, won acclaim from the global obstetric anesthesiologists and experts. The Chinese delegation was warmly welcomed by the General Assembly. The meeting made Chinese anesthesia to the world and improve the academic influence of Chinese obstetric anesthesia, but also enhance the Wuhan Union Hospital in the international visibility.
