Hubei Clinical Research Center

Hubei Clinical Research Center of Imaging Medicine

Name: Hubei Clinical Research Center of Imaging Medicine

Person in Charge: Xie Mingxing

Brief Introduction: The center is affiliated to the Imaging Medicineand Nuclear Medicine of Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, which is a national key clinical specialty, national key (cultivation) discipline, one of the first national standardized training base for resident doctors, one of the first awarding points for master's degree and doctor's degree and the first postdoctoral research stations in imaging medicine. The center is an affiliated unit of Hubei Province Key Laboratory of Molecular Imaging, and the former/current chair unit and vice chair unit of the Ultrasound Branch, Radiology Branch and Nuclear Medicine Branch of Chinese Medical Association. It has undertaken 86 national research projects, including NSFC projects, published 2,533 papers, among which 560 are SCI papers, served as the chief editor of 104 textbooks and monographs for undergraduate students, graduate students, and students for standardized training, and participated in the editing of 81 textbooks and monographs. And as the first accomplisher, it won 3 prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Award, 6 first prizes of Hubei Province Science and Technology Progress Award and 20 prizes of other provincial and ministerial awards, while participated in 2 prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Award. It obtained 25 patents. Every year, the center carries out 2.77 million imaging examinations, and about 8,550 cases of interventional and radionuclide therapy. It is a first-class modern imaging medical center integrating medical treatment, teaching and research in central China, and according to the national ranking of Fudan University, the center has been ranked 2nd with respect to nuclear medicine, ranked among top 10 with respect to ultrasound for four consecutive years. The innovation achievements are as follows:

Accurate diagnosis and specification of multimodal imaging for difficult and severe cardiovascular diseases: 1. It is the first in the world to develop cardiac acoustic contrast with hydrogen peroxide, the first in China to develop transesophageal and three-dimensional ultrasound technology, and the first to clarify the formation mechanism of mitral valve M-shaped curve and the naming of each segment; 2. establish accurate ultrasonic diagnosis methods and perioperative specifications for a variety of difficult and severe cardiovascular diseases; 3. establish and optimize multi-parameter ultrasonic assessment methods for early impairment of cardiac functions; 4. establish a fetal cardiac ultrasound consultation platform in the central and southern region; 5. make innovative application of 13N-NH3 PET myocardial perfusion imaging for quantitative diagnosis of coronary microangiopathy.

Tumor molecular imaging and radiological intervention, radionuclide therapy: 1. develop 18F-5-FPN, 131I, 99mTc and other molecular probes to achieve molecular imaging of melanoma and non-invasive tracer of tumor stem cells in vitro; 2. take the lead in carrying out integrated research on multimodal imaging, diagnosis and treatment, such as PET/CT and SPECT/CT, to improve the accuracy and efficacy of tumor diagnosis; 3. demonstrate for the first time the safety and additional benefits of bletilla striata embolization microspheres in the treatment of liver cancer; 4. the first in Hubei Province to build interventional radiology wards and radionuclide treatment wards, and formulate specifications for liver intervention, thyroid cancer 131I, etc.

Development Objectives: 1. Form a nationwide clinical research collaborative network and telemedicine system on imaging, establish a large imaging database, dig deep into image AI, carry out 5-8 multi-center clinical studies around a variety of major diseases, and lead the formulation of 3-5 guidelines or consensuses; 2. develop 3-5 novel molecular imaging probes and realize clinical transformation; 3. set up a medical imaging emergency network for major public health events.
