Brief Introduction: Founded in 2012, the center committed to changing the single mode of diabetes management by each hospital on its own, so as to establish a comprehensive intervention mode led by the center and combined with various regional general hospitals and community health service centers, aiming to improve the overall control rate of diabetes and other metabolic diseases. On that basis, the occurrence and development rules and mechanisms of diabetes and metabolic diseases are further clarified, and precise intervention targets of diseases are explored.


Over the past five years, the center has created the largest diabetes and metabolic disease research cohort and clinical data in central China and successfully completed the special study on the cancer risk of patients with type 2 diabetes in China as well as the follow-up. The center presided over and participated in the formulation of consensuses and guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes and metabolic diseases in China, won 2 first prizes of Hubei Province Science and Technology Progress Award, published 102 SCI papers, and obtained 13 national funded projects and 9 provincial funded projects.


The center is affiliated to the Endocrinology Department of Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, which is a national key endocrine disease discipline and included among the top 15 endocrine majors on the ranking of Fudan University during the construction period. It is now the sub center of the National Clinical Research Center of Metabolic Diseases in Hubei Province.


The center has organized and established the Hubei Quality Control Center of Endocrinology, led the establishment of the Hubei Diabetes Diagnosis and Treatment Alliance and set up two expert workstations in the province. And it is an affiliated unit of the Hubei Diabetes Prevention and Treatment Office. Relying on the above platform, the center vigorously promotes the standardized management of diabetes and metabolic diseases in the province and participated in the formulation of four industry standards and operating specifications. The center provides a good platform for scientific research collaboration and in-depth clinical exchanges.
