Person in Charge: Wang Guobin

Brief Introduction: Hubei Clinical Research Center of Minimally Invasive Surgery was founded 2008, affiliated to Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. On the basis of the original Clinical Research Center of Minimally Invasive Surgery of Union Hospital, the center has kept improving and built a Multi-disciplinary Diagnosis and Treatment (MDT) team through the interdisciplinary collaboration of general surgery, thoracic and cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, urology, obstetrics and gynaecology, interventional surgery, gastroenterology and other disciplines, dedicating to development of professional, standardized, individualized, minimally invasive and multi-disciplinary diagnosis and treatment of surgical diseases.

Through the establishment of multiple sub-center platforms, including the "Johnson-Union Minimally Invasive Surgery Training Center", "Minimally Invasive Animal Surgery Center", "Individualized and Minimally Invasive Treatment Platform for Extremely Severe Pancreatitis", "Multidisciplinary Collaboration (MDT) Disease Treatment Platform of General Surgery in Central and Southern China", "Sino-German Individualized Pancreatic Therapy Laboratory", etc., the center has formulated a series of diagnosis and treatment guidelines, technical specifications and expert consensuses related to minimally invasive surgery, becoming a center for the diagnosis and treatment of difficult and severe diseases in the field of minimally invasive surgery in the central and southern region and even the whole country.

The center continues to strengthen the organic combination of basic research and clinical practice, and strives to achieve the optimization of translational medicine. Over the past five years, the center has undertaken more than 140 NSFC projects, published more than 1,000 SCI papers and three monographs, and 13 patents have been approved. The center has won a first prize of Science and Technology Progress Award granted by the Ministry of Education, a first prize and three second prizes of Hubei Province Science and Technology Progress Award. In particular, the center has made a series of theoretical innovations and technological breakthroughs around the key issues, such as minimally invasive precise diagnosis and treatment of severe congenital heart diseases. The Chinese expert consensuses led by the center won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2018.

The center has established technical cooperation relations with 14 grassroots hospitals in and out of the province and carried out telemedicine cooperation with 41 medical institutions in China.

After nearly 10 years of construction, the center has become an important base for clinical practice, scientific research, transformation and teaching in the field of minimally invasive surgery.
