Brief Introduction: Founded in 2005, the laboratory is an open molecular imaging research platform, which is affiliated to Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
Located in the PET Center and equipped with an accelerator room and a PET diagnostic room, the laboratory is composed of an experimental molecular imaging laboratory and a PET instrument development laboratory, which is one of the most complete functional molecular imaging laboratories in China. The laboratory is led by the Nuclear Medicine Department of Union Hospital, in conjunction with Multidiscipline, including radiology, ultrasound imaging, biomedical engineering, etc. It also integrates basic medicine, cyclotron, chemistry and clinical medicine, such as oncology, cardiovascular disease, neuroscience and other related disciplines and has been formed as a comprehensive public research platform, with combination research of basic medicine and clinical medicine as well as medicine and science. The mission of the laboratory is to conduct basic and clinical research in the field of molecular imaging and promote the development of molecular imaging.
Over the past ten years, the laboratory has made outstanding achievements in scientific research, including great breakthroughs in NSFC projects, and has also gained many national key projects, taking a leading position in China with respect to tumor imaging diagnosis and efficacy evaluation, clinical and basic research on early diagnosis of coronary heart disease, and other related aspects.
1. Research directions
The laboratory has formed four stable directions: early diagnosis and monitoring of tumor molecular imaging, cardiovascular molecular imaging research, neuromolecular imaging research and molecular imaging engineering research.
2. Achievements
Over the past two years, the laboratory has published 417 papers, including 250 SCI papers, 151 Chinese papers, 10 domestic and foreign industry expert consensuses and guidelines, and authorized 6 invention patents and 9 utility models. Over recent years, the laboratory has won a second prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Education, 11 awards of the Hubei Province Science and Technology Progress, and 2 awards of the China Medical Science and Technology Progress.
