On the morning of October 21, a 12-member delegation of teachers and students from Thailand, organized by the Office of the Basic Education Commission of the Thai Ministry of Education, visited Union Hospital(the First Clinical School) of Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The delegation learned about the hospital's clinical medical education and toured the Hospital History Museum and International Outpatient Department.
The visit began at the Hospital History Museum. Through valuable historical archives, physical exhibits, and immersive multimedia presentations, the delegation gained a systematic understanding of Wuhan Union Hospital’s century-long development since its establishment in 1866 and the spirit of “healing the world with love”. At the International Outpatient Department, the delegation gained detailed insights into the hospital's international medical service model, including its multilingual service processes, specialty setups, and practices in cross-cultural doctor-patient communication. The exchange was marked by a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere.
Mr. Watcharapong Huaihongthong, the delegation's lead teacher, remarked that this visit allowed the Thai teachers and students to experience firsthand the management standards and humanistic care of a modern Chinese hospital, establishing a solid foundation for future Thai students to pursue medical studies in China.
